Motorcycle And ATV Vin Decoder
By decoding the vin number on any bike or atv, you can learn a lot about a bike, such as who the manufacturer is and the country it was manufactured. These are usually the first three letters and numbers on the vin plate.
The fourth through the eighth digit refers to specifics about the bike such as the body style and engine type. Most decoders have this information available, but sometimes you will have to contact the manufacturer to get all the information.
The ninth digit is placed on the bike for confirmation purposes and guarantees that the vin is genuine.
The tenth digit is for the year that the vehicle was produced. A through Y are like cars and indicate the years from 1980 to 2000. From 2001 to 2009 the digit will be 1 through 9 and corresponds to that year. From 2010 they start alphabetical again as from 1980 to 2000.
